Brewster Central School District announced last week its deputy superintendent will become its permanent superintendent this summer.

Michelle Gosh will begin leading the district of just under 3,000 students July 1 when Laurie Bandlow, who led the district for five years, retires.

According a news release, Gosh started her career in Brewster as a social studies teacher and rose through the ranks of administration as an assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment. She has been deputy superintendent since 2021.

Michelle Gosh, left, with a 2023 Brewster graduate, Charlie Armon.

“She is a collaborative leader who is adept at building trust among her peers, staff and students, leading internal teams, creating community partnerships and maximizing funding streams,” the release said of Gosh.

The release listed some of Gosh’s accomplishments in the past year: overseeing the district’s dual-language program, the creation of its pre-K program, and obtaining a $2.56 million Pathways in Technology (P-Tech) grant that will go toward associate’s degrees for Brewster students through Westchester Community College.

“The opportunities that we are able to provide to our students are holistic, wide-ranging, and we continue to get better at cultivating new ones specific to our students’ needs,” Gosh said in the release. She credited the Brewster community with making those opportunities happen.
