Packers legendary quarterback Brett Favre was in New Jersey playing a round of golf with President Donald Trump today according to Trump special assistant (and deputy press secretary) Judd Deere.

It’s a round bound to stir up some feelings among Packers nation. Favre recently made comments highly supportive of former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, the Milwaukee-born player whose decision to kneel for the national anthem before an NFL game has been a flashpoint in the quest for social justice, not to mention the intersection of politics and sports.

Favre went as far as comparing Kaepernick to Pat Tillman, a former NFL player who left the league to serve in the military, where he was killed overseas.

WTMJ4’s Charles Benson quoted White House Deputy Communications Director Brian Morgenstern as saying, “Today President Trump played golf with legendary Hall of Fame quarterback Bret Favre. They discussed the importance of sports as a critical unifying and uplifting part of the safe reopening of America.”
