Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings has been named in the final England squad for the European Championships.
The 28-year-old centre-back was initially included in Gareth Southgate’s 33-man provisional squad ahead of the tournament, which has now been cut to 26.
Mings has eight senior England caps to his name, having made his debut in a 6-0 win over Bulgaria in October 2019.
His most recent outing for his country came in the 5-0 World Cup qualifying victory over San Marino at Wembley in March.
He made 37 appearances in all competitions for Villa during the 2020-21 campaign.
Speaking about the former Bournemouth man previously, Southgate has said: “He’s got good athleticism and is a really good talker, he’s impressed us with the way he organises others and we need a bit of that from the back.
“Since I have been watching him, he’s displayed outstanding leadership qualities. He’s an impressive young man.”
Before the start of the rescheduled Euro 2020 tournament – postponed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic – England play warm-up matches against Austria on Wednesday (June 2) and Romania (June 6) on Sunday, both in Middlesbrough.
Southgate’s men kick off their Group D campaign against Croatia on June 13, before facing Scotland on June 18 and Czech Republic on June 22.
All of England’s group matches will be played at Wembley.
