Breaking: Sergio Aguero to leave Man City
Aguero #Aguero
Sergio Aguero will leave Manchester City at the end of the current season, as confirmed by the club in an official statement on Monday night.
Since making his debut in 2011, the Argentine has gone on to make 384 appearances for the club, scoring a staggering 257 goals – making him the clubs all time leading goalscorer.
Four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five League Cups later, the club have announced they’ll be bidding a fond farewell to the striker at the end of the current season and the expiry of his contract.
Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak had this to say: “Sergio’s contribution to Manchester City over the last 10 years cannot be overstated. His legend will be indelibly etched into the memories of everyone who loves the Club and maybe even in those who simply love football.”
“This is not yet the moment for farewell words and speeches. There is still much to achieve in the remainder of the time we have with Sergio, and we look forward to his contributions to the challenges which lay ahead.”
The chairman also confirmed plans are already in the works to commemorate Agüero’s time at the club with a statue, which will be placed alongside former teammates David Silva and Vincent Kompany.
Agüero’s impact on the club will forever be remembered. The man who scored the last gasp goal against QPR to win City the league in the most dramatic fashion and led the club to heights we’ve never seen before.
