Breaking down Packers’ 17-9 win over Bears in Week 18
Packers #Packers
— Just about everything when Jordan Love threw the football. He finished 27 of 32 for 316 yards.
— Aaron Jones rushed for 111 yards, the third straight game he’s gone over 100 rushing yards. He added 30 receiving yards. His 10-yard run late in the fourth quarter was the dagger.
— The Packers dominated the line of scrimmage. Jordan Love took just one sack and was hit just one. Justin Fields was sacked five times and was hit 10 times. The Packers out-rushed the Bears 124-to-75.
— The Packers outgained the Bears 432 to 192 and 7.2 yards per play to 4.2.
— The Bears finished with only 117 total passing yards. Fields completed only 11 passes, and he took five sacks losing 31 yards.
— The Packers held Bears running backs Khalil Herbert and Roshon Johnson to just 48 yards on 17 carries.
— The Packers had five different players register a sack and eight different players register a tackle for loss.
— Jayden Reed produced his first career 100-yard receiving game. He caught a 59-yarder setting up a field goal, and his 15-yarder on third down extended the game-sealing drive.
— The Packers didn’t have Christian Watson and Doubs left in the first quarter. Big problem? No problem. Reed, Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton combined to catch 15 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns.
— The Packers were penalized just once for five yards, and the one penalty — a 5-yard offsides infraction on Rashan Gary — probably should have been a false start.
— The Packers didn’t punt and all seven possessions on offense advanced into Bears territory.
— The offense was 7-for-10 on third down, including two huge conversions on the final drive. Both of Love’s touchdown passes came on third down.
