Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has moved ahead of Sam Jones on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

On Sunday afternoon, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers are hosting the Golden State Warriors in Los Angeles, California.

During the first quarter, the eight-time All-Star made NBA history, as he has now moved ahead of Sam Jones on the all-time scoring list.

Davis came into the day with 15,408 points, which had him 137th on the list, so he only needed four points to pass Jones (15,411).

That said, Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving entered the afternoon with 15,386 points (which had him one spot behind Davis), but he scored 30 points in their 130-126 loss to the Phoenix Suns.

Therefore, Irving (15,416) moved ahead of Davis and Jones.

As long as Davis scores more than eight points, he will move in front of Irving for 136th on the list.

The two superstars will likely go back and forth, as they are both active players in the prime of their careers.

Davis is having another fantastic season and came into the matchup with the Warriors averaging 26.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.1 blocks per contest in 39 games (while shooting 56.0% from the field).

He is in his fourth season with the Lakers and helped them win the NBA Championship over the Miami Heat in 2020.

Before the Lakers, he spent seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, who drafted him with the first pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Kentucky.

Right now, the Lakers are the 11th seed in the Western Conference with a 30-34 record in 64 games.
