Brazil World Cup squad: Richarlison and his family celebrate wildly after inclusion

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is well and truly on the horizon with only days to go before kick-off in Qatar.

The hosts will battle it out with Ecuador on the opening night before the feast of football clicks into full gear in the group stages.

With club football now officially on hold, all eyes will turn to the small gulf nation as it welcomes the 31 other teams and their myriad of fans.

Squads are already being announced, with Brazil naming their band of brothers that will tussle it out for the biggest prize in the game on Monday afternoon.

It seems it is going to be all out attack for the Brazilians who named no less than nine forwards in a group dripping with depth and quality.

One quick scan of the full list of names is all you need to understand why Brazil, who share a deep affection with the World Cup, are going in as pre-tournament favourites.

From front to back they boast a glut of stars in each and every position and will be more than confident of reaching the business end of the finals in Qatar.

Considering just how intense the level of competition for places was, it is no surprise that footage of the players’ reactions to hearing their names has begun to emerge all over social media.

Manchester United star Antony began the trend as he posted footage of his reaction, alongside that of his brothers and father, to the news that he had booked a spot on the plane to the gulf.

It made for truly wholesome viewing as wild celebrations quickly turned into tears as the 22-year-old was embraced by those he holds most dear.

However, he wasn’t the only member of Brazil’s forward gang celebrating the news, with Tottenham’s Richarlison also securing his ticket to the World Cup.

Now his family really went off when his name was read out and who can blame them? A place in a Brazilian World Cup squad is the stuff of legend.

Richarlison will be under no allusions though considering he finds himself in the most competitive area of the squad.

Playing time might be hard to come by but you have to be on the plane first in order to have any chance and he has well and truly ticked that box.
