Cullen will face his close friend Johnny Clayton after Christmas, following a 3-0 whitewash of Wayne Jones in his opening match of the tournament.
Despite some wayward finishing, the Yorkshireman, who had won just two previous matches on the Alexandra Palace stage, averaged more than 94 on each visit to the oche, hitting six maximum 180 scores and losing only three legs.

“I would have been happy with 3-2 and winning in a last leg decider,” admitted Cullen.
“I have got a shocking record here, a lot of that is down to me or luck, but it is good to win a game here.”
Clayton is seeded 17th, one below Cullen, who said: “We are really good mates and we room together on the European tour.
“I beat him in the Grand Slam so I am sure he is itching to get one back. It should be a good game.”
