Brad Marchand’s goal 39 seconds into overtime gave the Bruins a 4-3, come-from-behind win over the Capitals to tie the series 1-1, Monday in Washington.

Game 3 is Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at TD Garden.

After Taylor Hall scored late in the third to force overtime, Matt Grzelcyk fed Marchand in the right faceoff circle and the Boston winger unloaded the shot past Craig Anderson to spark the celebration.

Bruce Cassidy’s newly reconfigured third line produced right away, as the suddenly-hot Jake DeBrusk put the Bruins ahead early. Charlie Coyle, who moved back to center between DeBrusk and Nick Ritchie, wheeled the puck around the net right to left, drawing Anderson just far enough out of his cage. When he reached the other side, Coyle fed DeBrusk, who shoved it through traffic to make it 1-0, 5:05 into the game.

Washington’s potent power play tied the game 1:26 later, when T.J. Oshie redirected an Alex Ovechkin shot past Tuukka Rask to make it 1-1.

Boston regained the lead later in the period, when David Pastrnak got his left hand up well above his head at the blue line to keep the puck in the zone. He pounced on it and fed Patrice Bergeron heading back to the net. The Bruins’ captain sizzled a wrist shot from the slot past Anderson to make it 2-1.

The Capitals continued to find success redirecting shots in front of Rask. Garnet Hathaway’s tying goal came on a tip of a Dmitry Orlov shot and rolled through Rask’s pads to tie the game 2-2 after the first.

After killing back-to-back penalties, the Bruins fell behind at even strength in the third period. On a 2-on-1, Orlov fed Hathaway across the slot. His wrist shot from inside the right-wing circle beat Rask to make it 3-2 with 12:56 left in the third period.

Hall tied the game with 2:49 left. Amidst the chaos in Anderson’s crease, he jammed the puck under Anderson to make it 3-3 forcing overtime.

Rask made 36 saves for the Bruins, while Anderson stopped 44 for Washington.
