Hibs forward Martin Boyle started for Australia as they beat Syria 1-0 to reach the last 16 of the Asian Cup.
Former Hibs midfielder Jackson Irvine scored the game’s only goal after Boyle burst into the box to secure Graham Arnold’s side a place in the knockout stages.
Australia finish their group campaign against Uzbekistan on Tuesday, 23 January.
