Boy George had a defiant response to being told the I’m A Celebrity camp would be getting a leader, threatening mutiny by declaring: “If I don’t want to do something I won’t do it.”
The new series of the ITV show is now a week old and I’m A Celebrity fans can’t get enough of their nightly fixes of the goings on in the Australia jungle, after the programme returned Down Under for the first time in three years. The first seven days of the new run has given viewers everything from Olivia Attwood’s shock exit to Matt Hancock’ s late arrival.
It looked like Boy George could be set for some early tension as he complained about Loose Women’s Charlene White taking control round the campfire and being a ‘bossy boots.’ After he confronted Charlene, the two ironed things out, although Chris Moyles said in the Bush Telegraph it was because he ‘didn’t respond well to authority.’

There was big news for the I’m A Celebrity cast on Sunday night, when it was revealed to them that the public had been voting for a camp leader, with Matt Hancock and Mike Tindall receiving the most votes. After they chose their deputies, with Matt picking Charlene and Mike picking Sue Cleaver and headed off for their leadership ‘battle,’ the rest of the camp digested the news.
Asked who he would rather be leader, Boy George quipped: “Well not a Tory,” adding: “I’m not anti-Matt, but I’d rather no having him ruling me.” Hr then voiced his opinions in the Bush Telegraph, saying: “If Matt was to become camp leader and I feel he’s doing something I don’t agree with, I won’t do it.”
Hinting he’d have a problem with whoever was leader, the Culture Club icon continued: “Ultimately, neither of them will have any power over me. If I don’t want to do something I won’t do it.”
Reacting to George’s comments, one viewer took to Twitter to post: “Boy George heard “leader” and a tantrum was immediately triggered: “Boy George is fuming he isn’t leader ain’t he.”
Near the end of the show, Sue approached George, saying that she and Mike were “ready to revolt,” as George sang: “Say what you will, try to ignore me. I will never bow to a bloody Tory.”
