Boston Red Sox lineup: Trevor Story has 3 homers, .486 OBP vs. Robbie Ray who starts Friday for Mariners

BOSTON — Trevor Story, who bashed three homers for the Red Sox on Thursday, has had some success against Robbie Ray who will start for Seattle here at Fenway Park on Friday.

Ray, who won the 2021 AL Cy Young while pitching for Toronto, signed a five-year, $115-million contract with the Mariners in the offseason. He is 4-3 with a 4.62 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and .223 batting average against in eight starts.

Story is 8-for-27 (.296) with a .486 on-base percentage, three homers, four RBIs, 10 walks and 14 strikeouts vs. the left-hander. He’s batting fifth.

The Red ox have Christian Arroyo in right field and Bobby Dalbec at first base vs. the lefty.

Michael Wacha, who has been sidelined with left intercostal irritation, will return from the 15-day IL to start for the Red Sox. He hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any of his five starts. He is 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. The opposition is batting .148 against him.
