Boris Johnson mocked for quoting M People song in Tory party conference speech
M People #MPeople
Boris Johnson has been mocked on Twitter after he referenced a song by the band M People in his Tory party conference speech on Tuesday morning (6 October).
The prime minister referenced the lyrics to the 1994 hit “Search for the Hero” while talking about his experience of coronavrius and his subsequent weight loss mission.
He said: “And I am going to continue that diet because you have got to search for the hero inside yourself and hope that individual is considerably slimmer.”
Many ridiculed Johnson on Twitter, with one person writing: “This is beyond parody now.”
Another tweeted: “My thoughts are with Heather Small and M People at this difficult time.”
“M People??? Oh just f*** the f***ing f*** off. I can’t with any of them,” added a third.

In the same speech, Johnson disputed claims that Covid-19 had robbed him of his “mojo”, saying: “This is self-evident drivel. The kind of seditious propaganda that you would expect from people who don’t want this government to succeed. And I could refute these critics of my athletic abilities in any way that they want, arm wrestling, leg wrestling… you name it.”
