Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds name baby son Wilfred

Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds have named their son Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, paying tribute to their grandfathers and the doctors who helped save the prime minister’s life.

Symonds, 32, revealed the name alongside a picture of her cradling the newborn on Instagram today, stating that her “heart is full” and that she “couldn’t be happier.”

She also praised the maternity team at University College Hospital in London, who she said “looked after us so well”.

The couple announced on Wednesday that she had given birth to a boy, just weeks after the prime minister was discharged from intensive care after a battle with Covid-19.
