Bombs away! Rattle felt in Yuba-Sutter area result of Beale detonations
Beale #Beale
Jan. 19—Did you feel that? Did anyone else feel that?
That was the response from several Yuba-Sutter area residents on Friday morning after what felt like an earthquake startled many in the region.
According to Charlene Spade with Beale Air Force Base, the boom that many experienced was the result of denotations taking place at the base.
“I can confirm that Beale AFB, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) conducted detonations at the range this morning,” Spade said in an email to the Appeal.
According to the U.S. Air Force, “Mitigating the hazards of explosive materials and other weapons takes immense courage, precision, and skill. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) members undertake some of the Air Force’s most dangerous missions in diverse and unforgiving locales worldwide. These brave Airmen work solo or in teams and employ special tools and vehicles to safely locate, identify, recover, disarm, and dispose of dangerous weapons that threaten people, property, and natural environments.”
