Bills’ Gabe Davis questionable vs. Titans with ankle injury; Ed Oliver ruled out
Syracuse #Syracuse
Orchard Park, N.Y. — Buffalo Bills fans received bad news on Saturday when the team released its final injury report ahead of Monday night’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
Wide receiver Gabe Davis suffered an ankle injury after practicing in full on Wednesday and Thursday, and he’s officially listed as questionable for the game.
Davis was one of four Bills players with an injury designation for Monday Night Football. Buffalo defensive tackle Ed Oliver is still dealing with an ankle injury that knocked him out of the opener against the Los Angeles Rams. He’s been ruled out already for the Titans game.
Defensive tackle Tim Settle has been dealing with a nagging calf injury since training camp. He was limited on Saturday after not practicing all week and is listed as doubtful. He said after practice that he was able to do everything the coaches asked him to do in practice, and that he’ll be ready to play if needed.
Bills starting cornerback Dane Jackson missed practice on Thursday after suffering a scary knee injury the day before in practice.
“It was in 1-on-1s. I just came down wrong and my knee buckled. Nothing major, no tears, no anything,” he said. “The video made it even more scary. It hurt a little but once I rolled over a little bit I realized it wasn’t nothing major. My mom and them kept asking to send (the video), but I said no.”
Jackson practiced in full on Saturday and is listed as questionable for the game.
If Davis can’t play it will create a major hole for the Bills in their offense. The third-year receiver played all but one of the team’s offensive snaps last week against the Rams. If he can’t go, that could create an opportunity for rookie receiver Khalil Shakir to get his first game-day active designation. He was a healthy scratch last week against Los Angeles.
With Oliver out and Settle’s status in question, the Bills will likely call up defensive tackle Brandin Bryant off their practice squad. He had an outstanding training camp and was called up for two games last season.
“His story is a remarkable one,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said of Bryant. “The resiliency that he’s displayed throughout his career to get to where he’s been the last couple of years and how he’s played. We have a lot of trust in him and he’s a true pro in how he handles himself on and off the field.”
