Bill Kenwright is to remain Everton chairman after the owner Farhad Moshiri talked him out of resigning so he could be part of helping the club to “reset”.
Moshiri, who is joining the board as a non-executive director, said that Everton were entering an “important period of transition”, with new investment from the American firm MSP Sports Capital imminent.
That will help to fund the club’s new £550 million stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock and boardroom appointments are expected to follow.
It remains to be seen whether Kenwright is staying only in the short term until MSP, which has raised £130 million through 13 investors, comes on board, but Moshiri made a special trip to England last week to conduct face-to-face discussions with him.
