Big Time Rush set for ‘comeback of epic proportions’: What to know about the reunion shows

After seven years on hiatus, Big Time Rush is making a big time comeback.

The boy band, who launched to fame on their 2009 to 2013 Nickelodeon show of the same name, announced on its official Twitter account Monday that the band will perform two upcoming shows.

“WE ARE BACK!” the tweet read. “It’s been a minute, but we couldn’t be more excited to see you! Lets make up for lost time.”

The band will play a show on Dec. 15 at the Chicago Theater and on Dec. 18 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. Fans can sign up for first access to pre-sale tickets on Big Time Rush’s website.

Along with the tour dates, the band tweeted a video offering playful updates on what each of its four members have been up to.

“It’s 2021,” says a voiceover. “The people of the world are ready for a comeback of epic proportions.”

The video shows Kendall Schmidt, 30, hiking in the woods; James Maslow, 31, working on a car; Carlos PenaVega, 31, wrangling his two kids; and Logan Henderson, 31, “working on that PhD” with an intense game of Operation.

“The show must go on,” the voiceover adds. “The world needs Big Time Rush.”

The announcement was trending on Twitter Monday as fans shared their excitement and nostalgia for Big Time Rush.

“Big Time Rush returning after 8 years,” wrote @DynamoSuperX. “2021 is a gift that just keeps on giving.”

“big time rush coming back is what needed to happen this year nature is finally healing,” wrote @MatteoEscudero.

“i been saying this and imma say it again,” wrote @PEACHYBLACKG0RL. “big time rush is better than one direction”
