Big Brother: Sexism row breaks out after Chanelle says ‘biologically men are stronger than women’ in endurance challenge as she butts heads with Trish
Chanelle #Chanelle
An almighty sexism row broke out on Monday night’s episode of Big Brother on ITV2.
The housemates took on the latest Shopping Challenge where they had to dress as ants and complete a series of tasks after being split into the blue and orange colonies.
Each team had a team captain – Noky for the blues and Chanelle for the oranges – who had to choose who should take on an endurance challenge of holding food items above their heads.
Chanelle picked all boys for her three choices – Tom, Matty and Dylan – which prompted outrage from Olivia and Trish who said she was being sexist.
The Welsh captain later responded that he choice was because ‘biologically it’s proven that men are stronger than women!’
Getting tense: An almighty sexism row broke out on Monday night’s episode of Big Brother on ITV2
Drama: The housemates took on the latest Shopping Challenge where they had to dress as ants and complete a series of tasks after being split into the blue and orange colonies
Silly: Each team had a team captain – Noky for the blues and Chanelle for the oranges – who had to choose who should take on an endurance challenge of holding food items above their heads
Hallie then defended her to Trish and Olivia as she quipped: ‘Sexism shouldn’t be a topic that’s brought up to make Chanelle look bad.’
The row rumbled on for the entire episode as Dylan encouraged Trish to apologise to Chanelle.
Elsewhere tensions were high as some of the housemates discussed how seriously they should follow the rules.
Paul shouted: ‘I live in a real world, I don’t live in a f***ing ant world. At the end of this, we are all going to be eating the same food and that fridge when this task is over and we aren’t dressed up.’
Noky replied: ‘None of us know what Big Brother can actually pick as a legitimate rule, so it is best to just do everything as per the instructions and then we’ll see what counts and what doesn’t, and that includes guarding the eggs.’
Paul quipped: ‘I’m just not happy about us all being so serious over it, we are dressed as ants.’
Olivia added: ‘Yeah but Paul, no offence dude you were in a foul mood this morning.’
Becoming increasingly angry, Paul said: ‘If you want to start, start.’
‘I’m not starting, I’m just saying you were in a foul mood refusing to out your gloves on,’ Olivia responded.
Paul raged: ‘F***ing being serious again, everyones being serious, we are dressed up as ants and you are all arguing over stupid petty things.’
Noky quipped: ‘No but you are being serious too.’
Paul: ‘I’m being serious now because you are F***ing treating me like I’m some k***head. Do you think I’m a d***head. Any need for that? Seriously.
Not happy: Chanelle picked all boys for her three choices – Tom, Matty and Dylan – which prompted outrage from Olivia and Trish who said she was being sexist
Having a big row: Her and Olivia accused the Welsh beauty of not being inclusive as they kicked off
Having her say: Chanelle later responded that he choice was because ‘biologically it’s proven that men are stronger than women!’
Kind: Hallie then defended her to Trish and Olivia as she quipped: ‘Sexism shouldn’t be a topic that’s brought up to make Chanelle look bad’
Later, referencing his disagreement with Noky and Olivia, Paul said to Tom and Jenkin: ‘I’ll be honest, I’m usually quite a good judge of character and I usually know what people are like when I first meet them, I do.
‘And this is the thing, you know when Olivia came in and then she sat there with Noky on the floor taking the p**s out of me and I thought, I just looked at her and thought, are you f***ing for real, like seriously?
‘Like is this really, like that to me questions… if they’re genuine or not… it makes me question them as a person…’
Elsewhere Trish broke down as she told Noky how it was her later father’s birthday.
She had had a tough day after the row with Chanelle and was feeling emotional during the chat.
It comes after Big Brother viewers were astounded during Sunday’s episode as Dylan and Trish fell out over food.
Trish was seen making herself a sandwich in the kitchen while Dylan cooked himself and some other housemates some chicken.
But Trish was left unimpressed as she was under the impression Dylan had forbidden her from having any chicken as she had already started making herself something to eat.
Questioning Trish, an irritated Dylan asked: ‘Have I done something else wrong?’, to which Trish spat back: ‘Yeah you did.’
After Trish explained she was annoyed Dylan had told her she could not ask for other items of food after she decided to make a sandwich, Dylan hit back: ‘I asked you if you wanted something to eat, that’s all I said.’
When Trish insisted he hadn’t asked her if she wanted anything, Dylan doubled down: ‘I said, ‘What are you doing? Because I’m making food’, do you know what I mean?
‘I’m making food so I need to know now.
Trish responded: ‘I said, ‘I’m making a sandwich’, and you said, ‘If you’re going to eat that you’re not going to make me anything’.’
Worked up, Dylan insisted: ‘No I didn’t say that! I said, ‘I’m making food’.’
Attempting to get her fellow housemates to back her up, Trish asked the other show contestants: ‘Sorry, did anyone else hear that or did I just imagine that?’
Jenkin told Dylan: ‘You did say that if she’s making a sandwich, you’re not going to put chicken in for her.’
Dylan said: ‘No, I said I wouldn’t bother putting chicken in for you, I didn’t say I wasn’t going to put chicken in for you,’ which left Trish looking baffled and shrugging her shoulders.
‘I said if you want chicken you can have chicken,’ continued Dylan. ‘I didn’t mean it as in if you make a sandwich, I’m not cooking for you.’
An exasperated Trish said: ‘I don’t know why you’re shouting at me,’ to which Dylan told her: ‘You misunderstood what I said, that’s why.’
But Trish insisted: ‘No, no, no. I didn’t misunderstand what you said, I heard you properly.’
The moment left viewers with plenty of opinions on the matter, with show fans taking to Twitter to express their views.
Someone wrote: ‘Dylan, Trish, why are we shouting about chicken at our big ages.’
While another person shared: ‘I like Trish, but she made an argument out of nothing. Dylan did nothing wrong.’
Anger: Elsewhere tensions were high as some of the housemates discussed how seriously they should follow the rules
In a rage: Paul shouted at Noky: ‘I live in a real world, I don’t live in a f***ing ant world!’ as it all kicked off
Another viewer posted: ‘Trish is clearly hangry cos there was no need to go off on Dylan over that, if she still wanted chicken she coulda said, she has a voice no?’
Siding with Trish, one other person wrote: ‘Tbf to Trish, Dylan did say he won’t put chicken in but it wasn’t that deep tho at all to amount to an argument.’
‘Dylan telling Trish he won’t make her chicken if she has a sandwich as if Chanelle isn’t sat beside her eating a sandwich,’ laughed someone else.
While another viewer posted: ‘Dylan 100% said Trish couldn’t have chicken if she was cooking for herself.’
Big Brother continues on Tuesday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

TRISH
AGE: 33
PROFESSION: Stay-at-home mum
FROM: Luton
WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH THE PRIZE MONEY IF YOU WON? ‘I think my first priority is to sort out my housing situation. The housing crisis is just ridiculous and my housing situation has been unstable. It brings me a lot of mum guilt because I’ve got a young child. It’s my biggest incentive and motivation to win.’
JORDAN
AGE: 25
PROFESSION: Lawyer
FROM: Scunthorpe
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LIKELY TO GET NOMINATED FOR? ‘Being cantankerous and acting as if I don’t want to be there even if I do in my heart. They might nominate me for being disengaged perhaps or not paying everyone an equal amount of attention. They may feel left out but I can’t help that.’
DYLAN
AGE: 39
PROFESSION: DJ
FROM: Coventry
TELL US AN INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOURSELF: ‘I appeared on a TV show called The Last Leg about amputees – two years before I lost my leg!’
NOKY
AGE: 26
PROFESSION: Banker
FROM: Derby
WHAT MADE YOU APPLY TO BECOME A BIG BROTHER HOUSEMATE? ‘I love challenges. I’ve had so many amazing times in my life, like going to Miss Universe as Miss Great Britain. I like to do something different and I think this is the next challenge I want to conquer. I want to show people what pageant girls are really like and disprove a lot of stereotypes around them. I also show what it’s like being a woman who’s worked in male- dominated fields. I want to show that women are capable of doing anything they want.’
PAUL
AGE: 23
PROFESSION: Security officer
FROM: Liverpool
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LIKELY TO GET NOMINATED FOR? ‘Being the biggest wind up, eating all the food and being the loudest housemate.’
YINRUN
AGE: 25
PROFESSION: Customer support agent
FROM: Harrogate
WHAT PART OF THE EXPERIENCE ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? ‘I’m most excited about being surrounded by so many people from different walks of life. I don’t think I will ever live in a house again with so many different kinds of people. I’m from China and I think it will help me be more immersed in British culture.’
CHANELLE
AGE: 29
PROFESSION: Dental therapist
FROM: Llanelli
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LIKELY TO BE NOMINATED FOR? ‘Probably just for being annoying. In Wales, we have this saying, “I’ll do it now in a minute.” So like, if I went to make food and I left a dish on the side, I have all good intentions of washing it but I’d be like, “I’ll do it now in a minute,” and it might be three hours later before I do it. So probably for silly stuff like that.’
MATTY
AGE: 24
PROFESSION: Doctor
FROM: Isle Of Man
HOW WOULD YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY DESCRIBE YOU? ‘They would say I’m quite like a lucky person or someone who really wants to experience life to its fullest and do everything that it has to offer. Someone who is kind and fun and doesn’t take life too seriously.’
HENRY
AGE: 25
PROFESSION: Food writer
FROM: Cotswolds
HOW WOULD YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY DESCRIBE YOU? ‘I think they would say I’m particularly sociable and very chatty. I mean, I’ll be honest, my parents would definitely say I’m a bit of a snob but I take it as a compliment. I think it means you’ve got high standards and good taste. They’d say I was quite a peculiar child.’
KERRY
AGE: 40
PROFESSION: NHS manager
FROM: Essex
WHAT MADE YOU APPLY TO BE A BIG BROTHER HOUSEMATE? ‘I love the programme. It is, for me, the ultimate reality TV show ever. I’ve got multiple sclerosis and so the reason why I never applied before is because I always saw those whacking great big stairs to get into the house. It just felt a little bit unachievable because for the first three years of my illness I was in a wheelchair. When I saw it was coming back and searching for real people from all walks of life, I thought, this is my year.’
OLIVIA
AGE: 23
PROFESSION: Dancer
FROM: Glasgow
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LIKELY TO GET NOMINATED FOR? ‘I think when people are in that hangry state, that’s when I’ll wind people up and grind their gears. I think they’ll nominate me for being full on, and for my brutal honesty and oversharing of opinions.’
