Big Brother 2022: Eviction splits up ‘power couple’ of Sam and Drew – who goes home?

The powerhouse couple of the Big Brother house went head to head in the most recent eviction – and it was sure to end in tears.

On Monday night’s episode, Sam and Drew were both up for eviction against Aleisha – who quickly appeared to be the “safe vote”.

It was the third eviction nomination in a row for Sam.

In the eviction ceremony, Sam told host Sonia Kruger: “I was expecting it to happen eventually so that’s taken away the shock factor, but it sucks.”

Sam called the situation a “lose-lose”.

“I don’t want to go and I don’t want Drew to go, but it just doesn’t feel right to fight the way I have been when I’ve got these two sitting next to me.”

Sam began dating Drew just days after he entered the house.

Since then, they have been dubbed the “power couple” and over the past few evictions, other housemates have been trying to split them up.

Speaking about being nominated against his girlfriend, Drew said it “makes things really hard”.

“Especially when it comes down to fighting for your place in here, I don’t want to leave at all but I will be lost quite a bit if I was to wake up without Sam in here,” he said.

According to Sam, the couple spent their final afternoon “crying for most of it,” explaining that it doesn’t feel right “scrambling”.

Prior to housemates casting their votes, Drew had one final thing to say.

“I’ve made probably less connections than most people in here, but that is true to me on the outside, if you’ve ever had a conversation with me, if I’ve ever given you a compliment, if I’ve ever given you some lip, know that it came from the heart, that was genuine.

“I don’t regret how I’ve played this, if I’m not here tomorrow thank you for putting up for me,” he said.

When it came down to it, Sam was the one sent packing, thanks to Tim’s last-minute strategy to save Drew.

Tim told some members of the house that Sam was a “heart player” – meaning she will be harder to control as the game continues.

As Sam left, she remarked: “I’m happy Drew’s in there because the thought of him leaving and me staying was getting the better of me.

“I’ll miss him but I hope that he does what I was going to do, take down the ultimate player of the game, Tim,” she said.

In a separate interview with 7Entertainment, Sam revealed why she chose to not scramble this time round – something she had actively done for her last two nominations.

“I was just so exhausted of fighting for myself and trying to prove my position in the house and I was coming up against some really big players and I didn’t have the skills or the energy of this point to fully back myself,” Sam said.

“By the time the scramble came around, I was absolutely exhausted and the game was starting to get quite sticky and quiet.

“I didn’t want to bring the worst out of me – so I wasn’t prepared to do that.

“And I just didn’t scramble as hard as I could have, I was scrambling against my friend and the guy that I was in a relationship with in the house,” she went on.

“So it didn’t feel right to talk myself up and talk about why people shouldn’t vote.”
