Biden: Make America Last Again

America Last #AmericaLast

Our friends at the Wall Street Journal recently reported this:

Biden’s State of the Union Was a Bad Bet

He’s doubling down on an unpopular policy mix, hoping the economy improves.

Said the Wall Street Journal of the Biden double down, comparing his policies to those of President Ronald Reagan in the early 1980s:

Will staying the course work for Mr. Biden? Maybe. That strategy paid off for Ronald Reagan, who had worse polling and economic numbers at this point in his first term. But Mr. Reagan had something Mr. Biden doesn’t have—a good plan. While Fed Chairman Paul Volcker was aggressively stamping out inflation, Mr. Reagan was cutting taxes, slashing red tape and unnecessary regulation, freeing up the economy, reining in Washington’s spending, and creating confidence through an optimistic but realistic conversation about the nation’s challenges.

By contrast, Mr. Biden raised taxes, dramatically scaled up the regulatory burden, puffed up domestic government spending, and undermined public confidence with his bumbling ways. On Tuesday he advocated for more of the same for the next two years.

In other words, Joe Biden is about Making America Last Again.

It is mostly forgotten all these years later, but when the former California governor challenged the Biden-esque incumbent Democrat President Jimmy Carter, there was a Reagan campaign button out there. It read:

REAGAN: Let’s Make America Great Again.

But just as Reagan was pledging to Make America Great Again, now a slogan immutably identified with former President Donald Trump as “MAGA” — a term Biden disdains — it is vividly clear that Biden and his policies have bought into another slogan altogether.

Joe Biden has gone all out as a leader of the ultra-MALA movement: Make America Last Again.

How else does one describe the end results of a Biden policy that insists on taxing — yes, really — the tips earned by hardworking waitresses and waiters? One can suspect that none of those are taking home more than $400,000 a year — under which limit Biden vowed not to raise taxes.

Then there’s the Biden spending spree, as detailed here by the Heritage Foundation. Its report reads:

President Joe Biden finally released his budget request for fiscal year 2023 on Monday, almost two months late.

Unsurprisingly, the Biden budget is bloated with excessive spending, harmful taxes, more regulations, and control over Americans’ lives, along with damaging policy proposals….

In summary, then, the Biden budget is irresponsible and would be harmful for American families in many ways.

Which is to say that Biden’s insistence on “excessive spending, harmful taxes, more regulations, and control over Americans’ lives, along with damaging policy proposals” can only have one guaranteed result: to Make America Last Again.

Making America Last Again comes naturally to the Left. After all, enough ink to fill a fleet of Chinese spy balloons has been spilled on just how much the Left hates America.

Over there at Substack, one anonymous contributor, identified as “CTCG” (as in “Codex Trivium Cosmic Genesis”), headlined this back in 2021:

Yes, Liberals Really Do Hate America

When they say it, we should believe them

The author says this:

When I was a young Liberal Democrat, a joke we often used to mock right-wingers and Republicans was to sarcastically quote, “Liberals, you see, they hate America!” This, in and of itself, was funny to us. How absurd to think that we, the left-leaning Democrats, patriots like any other American, could hate our own country!

Since then, within the last 15 years, it has actually become a mainstream left-wing viewpoint that America is an overall bad thing, a net-negative all together, and that it would be better if America would forsake its foundational values, the things that made America the world’s first non-dictatorship.

Liberals, quite openly, hate all of the most important foundational parts of what makes America unique. When they talk about reforms, they encourage changes that would fundamentally undo how the country functions as a free federal constitutional republic.

You cannot be a liberal and like America, let alone love America. When someone is seen displaying something patriotic, like a ringtone of “God Bless the USA,” Liberals say, “oh, of course, that person is a far-right racist.” Liberals often assert that the flag is a racist symbol, a hate symbol, and should not be displayed for fear of causing offense. Liberals themselves do not think you can be a liberal and patriotic at the same time.

All of which is a way to say that the Left — now personified by Joe Biden — so hates America and the concept of American greatness that it is all about Making America Last Again, just as was the trend in the Carter and Obama eras.

It was Jimmy Carter and the disaster of the Iran hostage crisis that helped make Reagan’s Make America Great Again slogan such a winning issue for Reagan.

Not to mention that it was policies like the Obama “apology tour” that were the very embodiment of Make America Last Again. Indeed, in that day, former George W. Bush aide Karl Rove, writing in the Wall Street Journal, noted this:

President Barack Obama has finished the second leg of his international confession tour. In less than 100 days, he has apologized on three continents for what he views as the sins of America and his predecessors.

Mr. Obama told the French (the French!) that America “has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive” toward Europe. In Prague, he said America has “a moral responsibility to act” on arms control because only the U.S. had “used a nuclear weapon.” In London, he said that decisions about the world financial system were no longer made by “just Roosevelt and Churchill sitting in a room with a brandy” — as if that were a bad thing. And in Latin America, he said the U.S. had not “pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors” because we “failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas.”

By confessing our nation’s sins, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that Mr. Obama has “changed the image of America around the world” and made the U.S. “safer and stronger.”

Or, in other words, Obama was about Making America Last.

And now? Now Obama’s former vice president is about Making America Last Again.

Or, in other words, Joe Biden is ultra-MALA.

And as the American people have seen in the disasters of Afghanistan and Ukraine and with that Chinese spy balloon, when America’s adversaries perceive the obvious weakness of being MALA — they will strike, in one fashion or another.

Not good. Not good at all.
