President Joe Biden poked fun at a Canadian hockey team during his address to the Canadian Parliament on Friday. He said although he loves Canadian hockey in general, he is not a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“I like your [hockey] teams, except the Leafs!” Biden said to a mix of applause and boos.

“I’ll tell you why — they beat the [Philadelphia] Flyers back in January, that’s why. I married a Philly girl, and if I didn’t say that, then I would be sleeping alone tonight. I like you fellas, but not that much.”

First lady Jill Biden was raised in a suburb of Philadelphia and has been outspoken in her support for home teams. Joe Biden has also expressed his support for his wife’s hometown, claiming Philadelphia fans are the “most persistent fans in the world” during an interview with the Chicago Tribune in 2010.

The address came during a visit to Canada that resulted in an agreement to deter immigrants from crossing into the United States from Canada following a recent surge in immigration.

Biden also slipped up in his speech and called Canada “China” by mistake, causing confusion in the House of Commons.

“So today, I applaud China for stepping up,” Biden said before correcting himself. “Excuse me — I applaud Canada. You can tell what I’m thinking about China. I won’t get into that yet.”

The trip to Canada was Biden’s first since becoming president more than two years ago. The visit included bilateral meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his address to Parliament.
