As the week in music comes to a close, Hypebeast has rounded up the best projects for the latest installment of Best New Tracks.
This week’s lineup is led by Yeat, ScHoolboy Q and Vampire Weekend, who released the album 2093 and the singles “Yeern 101” and “Capricorn/Gen-X Cops,” respectively. Also joining this selection are offerings from Four Tet, Matt Champion with Dijon, Dua Lipa, Lyrical Lemonade with Lil Tecca, The Kid LAROI and Lil Skies, Maya Hawke and bbymutha.

Yeat’s highly-anticipated fourth studio album, 2093, is here. The 22-track effort follows last year’s Afterlyfe and features a whopping 22 tracks.

ScHoolboy Q – “Yeern 101”
ScHoolboy Q preps for the release of his upcoming album, Blue Lips, with the new single “Yeern 101.” Produced by Cardogotwings, J.LBS, YeX and Johnny Juliano, the two-and-a-half-minute cut is an adventurous offering that hears Q go hard on the beat from the get go.

Vampire Weekend – “Capricorn/Gen-X Cops”
Shortly after announcing their upcoming album Only God Was Above Us, Vampire Weekend drops off the double single “Capricorn” and “Gen-X Cops.” The group’s next project is set to release on April 5.

Dua Lipa – “TRAINING SEASON”
Dua Lipa is looking forward to more growth with “TRAINING SEASON,” her second single from her upcoming album. The GRAMMY winner reveals that the song’s inspiration came from a string of bad dates and is about “that feeling when you are just absolutely done telling people…men specifically in this case, how to date you right; it is also about my training season being over and me growing with every experience. I have never felt more confident, clear or empowered.”

Matt Champion x Dijon – “Aphid”
Matt Champion enlists Dijon for his new single “Aphid” — his first release since the disbandment of BROCKHAMPTON. The cut is melodic, just like his previous single releases, but hears a more confident and complex sound from Champion.

Lyrical Lemonade x Lil Tecca x The Kid LAROI x Lil Skies – “This My Life”
Lil Tecca, The Kid LAROI and Lil Skies are all yellow in the accompanying music video for their Lyrical Lemonade collab “This My Life” — helmed, of course, by Cole Bennett.

Four Tet – “Daydream Repeat”
Four Tet follows up his January release, “Loved,” with the new cut “Daydream Repeat.” The single arrives with the announcement of his music festival in Brooklyn, which takes place on May 4 to May 5.

Maya Hawke – “Missing Out”
Maya Hawke drops off Chaos Angel’s lead single, “Missing Out.” The actress and musician shares in a statement, “There was actually a girl who went to Brown, where my brother goes to college, and we were all going around saying what our wish was for ourselves. She said, I want to write the next great American novel. It was the moment where I felt older than everyone because I laughed so hard. I was like, ‘You are so far down the wrong track!’ Wish to write a novel. That would be a miracle. Don’t wish to write the next great American novel, that’s a nightmare!” She continues, “It made me feel I actually am a different place in my life than these people I was around. It totally inspired this whole song.”

bbymutha – “go!”
Ahead of release of her new album sleep paralysis, bbymutha debuts the new single “go!” and the announcement of her upcoming tour. sleep paralysis, which drops April 19, promises beats from nine different electronic and club producers, and was inspired from her post-lockdown tour in the UK as she was introduced to 90s Garage and UK dance music.
