Bengals star Joe Mixon’s home surrounded by police Tuesday after call for shots fired: reports

Police have reportedly surrounded the home of Cincinnati Bengals star running back Joe Mixon and his neighbor after a report of shots fired Tuesday night, according to WXIX 19 Cincinnati.

The station reported that officers with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office were seen “banging” on Mixon’s door before walking into his backyard and “giving commands,” saying ‘Sheriff’s Department, come out of your house,’” at around 11:30 p.m. The sheriff’s department told WXIX there was an “active investigation” at around midnight.

The station reported that the sheriff’s department responded to the scene at around 8:25 p.m. to a report of shots fired. WXIX reported that a juvenile was taken to the hospital but said the extent of that person’s injuries, and how they were connected to the call, was unknown. The station also reported that there were “multiple evidence markers” in Mixon’s yard and crime scene tape around his house and his neighbor’s house.

At around midnight, a reporter on scene said police “were focusing on Mixon’s house,” but added that the standout player’s role in the scene was not known.

This comes just more than a month after an arrest warrant for aggravated menacing was reportedly issued for Mixon. In that case, a woman accused Mixon of pointing a gun at her and saying, “you should be popped in the face. I should shoot you, police can get me.”

Mixon, 26, has one year left on his deal with the Bengals.

He ran for 814 yards and seven touchdowns and caught 60 passes for 441 yards and two more scores last season. Mixon was a Pro Bowl pick in 2021 after rushing for 1,205 yards and 13 touchdowns while catching 42 more balls for 314 yards and three scores.

He has run for 5,378 yards and 40 touchdowns while catching 231 passes for 1,763 yard and 10 touchdowns across his six-year career.
