Bengals: Skyline replaces Gold Star as official chili partner

Maybe the Bengals were just being very, very cautious when ruling DJ Reader out immediately after a knee injury in the second quarter. But he was in clear discomfort on the sideline while watching the game. If he has to miss time, that changes what the Bengals can do defensively dramatically, as he's a top-five player at his position and on the roster. There isn't a way to replace him, which makes the job of the linebackers behind the line tougher, too. The only hope is good news later this week. © Sam Greene/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK Maybe the Bengals were just being very, very cautious when ruling DJ Reader out immediately after a knee injury in the second quarter. The Cincinnati Bengals have a new chili sponsor.

In news that will matter very much to those locally given the city’s chili civil war, Gold Star is out and replaced by Skyline Chili.

“Skyline Chili is a Cincinnati staple, and we look forward to bringing two iconic Cincinnati brands together to deliver delightful experiences and cultivate Cincinnati-pride,” Elizabeth Blackburn, Bengals Director of Strategy and Engagement, said in a release. “We remain focused on providing fans with a first-class experience and hope Skyline Chili and coneys are a well-received addition for our amazing fans.”

The team says fans can expect Skyline coneys at Paycor Stadium and the plan is for a collectible cup series available in stores around Ohio and Kentucky.
