Beavers to be without multiple players vs Oregon due to positive COVID tests

The Oregon State Beavers play host to the rival Oregon Ducks on Friday, but they will do so with a few players missing from the lineup.

It was reported just hours before kickoff that Oregon State would be without at least two players following positive COVID-19 tests earlier in the week.

The news was first reported by Carter Bahns of BeaverBlitz.

Following Bahns’ report, the school officially announced that five players would miss action due to COVID-19 protocols.

Those players are linebacker Cade Brownholtz, linebacker Kyrei Fisher, offensive lineman Nous Keobounnam, linebacker Luke Leonnig and offensive lineman Tanner Miller.

This is not the first time COVID-19 protocols have impacted the Beavers and sidelined Kyrei Fisher.

Just a few days prior to the team’s game at Washington on November 14th, the school announced that one player had tested positive while three others were in quarantine. Fisher was one of those four players.

At the time, head coach Jonathan Smith said his team had to use the news “as a learning experience to continue to never let our guard down.”

“We take this virus seriously,” Smith added. “We feel very confident in the protocols that are put in place and keeping everybody involved safe,” said Coach Smith.

The Beavers have done all they can to keep players safe and healthy, and this is just another example as to why we need to continue to take every precaution possible.

We will update you as any new information is released.
