Beau Fermor is facing the prospect of missing the entire season, with the Titans forward suffering a ruptured ACL prior to the opening round.
The 24-year-old was a shining light for the Gold Coast last season, scoring 11 tries in 23 games and averaging 116 run metres per game in the second-row.
Fermor was likely to push for a QLD Origin debut this year after impressing Maroons officials, but is now unlikely to play for the Titans after the devastating setback.
The club confirmed the news in a short statement on Thursday afternoon and confirmed Fermor would now meet with specialists to decide his next move.

“The Gold Coast Titans can confirm Beau Fermor has been dealt a devastating injury blow, ruling the talented edge forward out of Sunday’s season opener against the Tigers,” a club statement said.
“Scans have revealed the 24-year-old has ruptured his ACL at training this week with the back-rower to now meet with medical staff to outline his rehabilitation.
“Facing a lengthy stint on the sidelines, the Titans wish Fermor the best in his recovery.”
Gold Coast are already without centres Patrick Herbert (knee) and Brian Kelly (suspension) for the start of the season.
