Amina Khan admitted she “doesn’t need” Lord Sugar’s money and has already doubled the profits of her business since appearing on The Apprentice.

In the opening boardroom of this year’s series, Lord Sugar singled Amina out and questioned why she wanted to compete in the process when she has a successful business that has achieved profits of £1.7million in three years. During week four, Amina became the latest casualty along with project manager Jack Davies.

Amina found herself in the losing team after failing to negotiate well on a list of nine items Lord Sugar had instructed the two teams to find in Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands. Speaking to Mirror, pharmacist Amina revealed that although she was disappointed to have been fired, she doesn’t need Lord Sugar’s investment.

The entrepreneur, who launched her own successful supplement business The Pharmacist Beauty, said: “I have the most successful business out of all of the candidates on the show this year. It wasn’t for Lord Sugar’s investment, I didn’t really need that.

“It was his mentorship, to scale and grow my business. Who better than Lord Sugar for his mentorship to scale my business up? Since I’ve left the show I’ve doubled my business so I didn’t need his money.” The entrepreneur hit out at Lord Sugar’s decision and admitted she wished she’d had the chance to showcase her skills during the series.

She continued: “I don’t think I should have gone. I think Lord Sugar didn’t give me a chance to showcase my business acumen, I have the most profitable business in the show and even amongst all the winners [of The Apprentice] I have the most successful business and Lord Sugar didn’t give me a chance to showcase my skills. Anyone could have have been fired and I don’t think it should have been me – it was unfair.”

In the boardroom, Amina and Jack’s fellow candidates were both pointing the finger in their direction but the businesswoman revealed there was no way she was going to go down without a fight. Although she admitted she had “no idea” there would be a double firing, she added: “If I was going down, I was taking Jack with me, I wasn’t going to go on my own.”

Reflecting on her time on the series, Amina revealed she has kept in touch with her fellow candidates and was grateful to have met likeminded women in business. She said: “We’re all very good friends. These women on the show are all business-minded woman and where I come from, with my background we don’t have women that are so career orientated and I absolutely love them all.”
