BBC received Tim Westwood complaints when Davie was radio chief

The BBC received at least two official complaints accusing the DJ Tim Westwood of sexual misconduct while the present director-general was head of radio, the corporation has confirmed.

Westwood, 64, is accused of abusing his position to grope or sexually assault aspiring singers and of behaving inappropriately towards women on and off air. The allegations span 32 years and are being investigated by Scotland Yard. Westwood denies the claims.

It threatens to be damaging for the director-general, Tim Davie, who was director of audio and music, with responsibility for all radio stations, for much of Westwood’s time running hip-hop shows on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
