“Ya boy went a little too method this Halloween,” wrote Liu in the caption. “I know this might seem like a very low-effort costume on the surface but I assure you the commitment was absolute. I got the stitches to prove it!

“Thanks @allison for driving us to 6am surgery and being by my side the whole time. Here’s to a speedy recovery for me and @aaronrodgers12 #noachillesnoproblem.”

Liu played a version of Ken in Barbie, which smashed a heap of box office records to become the highest-grossing film of the year so far, with its success taking into the top 15 in the all-time list.

“They put together this incredible team of people, and the process of making it was such a joy. I went around theatres, stood in the back, and turned up the volume if I felt it wasn’t playing at the perfect level – it was the most thrilling thing,” she added, before talking about the prospect of a sequel.

“At this moment, it’s all I’ve got. I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I’ll never have another idea and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did.”

Barbie is in cinemas and available now to buy or rent on Prime Video, Microsoft Store, Apple TV+ and other digital retailers.
