University of Alabama freshman C.J. Pearson, a Republican nominee to the Electoral College, spoke on Wednesday afternoon at a “Stop the Steal” rally in his home state of Georgia.

The rally in Alpharetta was led by attorney Sidney Powell, who had assisted President Donald Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani in challenging the Nov. 3, 2020 presidential election won by President-elect Joe Biden. Powell has made numerous as yet unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud.

Trump later issued a statement saying Powell was not part of his legal team.

Powell filed a lawsuit in Georgia, C.J. Pearson v. Kemp, with Pearson as one of the plaintiffs and Republican Gov. Brian Kemp and other state officials as defendants.

Pearson, president of the Freethinker Project, criticized moderate Republicans including U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney and the late U.S. Sen. John McCain.

“They made the mistake of thinking we were the party of Mitt Romney and John McCain — the party that didn’t know how to fight,” Pearson said. “But what they don’t realize now is that we’re the party of Donald J. Trump.”

Atlanta attorney Lin Wood urged the pro-Trump crowd not to vote in the upcoming U.S. senate runoff on Jan. 5 in Georgia. “Why would you go back and vote in another rigged election?” Wood said.

Republican U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler is being challenged by the Rev. Raphael Warnock, a Democrat. Republican U.S. Sen. David Perdue is being challenged by Democrat Jon Ossoff.

Trump’s legal team has made several unsuccessful court challenges to the vote totals in several states, arguing fraud and irregularities. Yesterday Attorney General William Barr said the Justice Department has not uncovered evidence of widespread voter fraud that would change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.
