RANGERS ran out 2-0 winners over struggling Motherwell to close the gap on Celtic to two points.

The eventful game saw two disallowed goals for the Light Blues and a penalty shout from the Steelmen.

And there was also an awkward moment from one of the ball boys prompting co commentator Kenny Miller to call for him to be BOOKED.

Cyriel Dessers took a shot from outside the area but the wind took the ball out wide towards the touchline where it looked to be heading out for a throw in.

But the strong wind pushed the ball back in the direction of the pitch, forcing it to spin on the touchline.

Thinking the ball was already out, the ball boy dragged it over the line with his foot before the away fans roared with discontent.

Referee David Dickinson blew his whistle for a drop ball much to the disappointment of Stephen O’Donnell who bounced the ball away off the ground in anger.

The defender was already on a booking but escaped a second caution as the referee called him back to have a quick word.

And the moment was laughed at by Kenny Miller on commentary as the ex-Rangers man saw the funny side.

He said: “I think he (the ball boy) definitely has (took the ball out of play).

“I’m not sure that ball is actually made it out of the pitch.

“I think David Dickinson has recognised that as a drop ball.

“That should be a booking I think, is it? For the ball boy.

“It looks like it’s going out all the way but it just actually spins and stays in.”

Dessers had the ball in the back of the net TWICE but the offside flag was raised on both occassions.

And the striker was involved in a tussle in his own box when he seemingly had a hold of Mika Biereth’s jersey when the Motherwell man fell to the floor.

But the referee took no action as the Light Blues continued their strong domestic form under Philippe Clement.
