Ahead of the Pakistan vs New Zealand semi-final, there was plenty of chatter around the form of Pakistan’s opening pair of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. While both batsmen entered the tournament as two run-machines in the shortest format, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 saw them struggle as Pakistan managed to sneak through to the semi-finals. Ahead of the semis against New Zealand, former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis made a spot-on prediction about the two dashing openers rediscovering their form at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
As Pakistan cricketers took to social media to wish the Men in Green, Younis made a prediction where he backed both Azam and Rizwan to find form against the Black Caps in Sydney.

Younis’ prediction proved to be spot-on as both Azam and Younis added a match-winning 105-run stand for the opening wicket to put the Kiwis on backfoot. Azam was the first to reach his half-century while Rizwan also reached fifty runs in the 14th over.
