Australia’s Eleanor Patterson wins gold, Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh takes silver in women’s high jump at World Athletics Championships

It came down to the final two.
Australia’s Eleanor Patterson edged Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh on countback for the gold medal in the women’s high jump final with a height of 6 feet, 7½ inches (2.02 meters) on the fifth day of the World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field.
Patterson cleared the winning height with no misses, while Mahuchikh missed once before her successful jump.
Italy’s Elena Vallortigara took home the bronze medal after finishing with a clearance of 6-6¾ (2.00m).
Patterson was one of two Australians among the final 12 jumpers Tuesday evening. She was joined by Nicola Olyslagers, who finished fifth with a height of 6-5.
No members of Team USA participated in the final. Vashti Cunningham missed the cut with a best clearance of 6-1¼ in the qualifying round. Rachel McCoy was the top finisher for Team USA with a height of 6-2¾.
