Auguste Rodin wins Breeders’ Cup Turf under ‘incredible’ Ryan Moore ride

THERE is a ‘strong possibility’ the awesome Auguste Rodin will remain in training at four after Ryan Moore gave him an ‘incredible’ ride to win the Breeders’ Cup Turf.

And incredibly, connections haven’t ruled out a tilt at the Classic.

Moore went for a daring route up the inside in a messy Turf race to see off 4-1 American hope Up To The Mark.

It capped off an amazing year for this son of Deep Impact, who also won the Epsom Derby, Irish Derby and Irish Champion Stakes.

He could charge stratospheric figures at stud which would dwarf his £4million career earnings.

But co-owner MV Magnier revealed afterwards he could race again as a four-year-old.

Asked if he will run again next year, Magnier, son of legendary Coolmore chief John, said: “We’ve been thinking about it for a while.

“There’s a lot of things we could do. He could stand at stud here in the US, or in Europe… and there’s a strong possibility we keep him in training next year.”

Trainer Aidan O’Brien said he was amazed how good Auguste Rodin was on the dirt and asked if he could go for next year’s Classic, Magnier replied: “How fun would that be?”

O’Brien was amazed by Moore’s ride and said: “Incredible. Ryan knew. What an incredible ride.

“You can see the pace he has but Ryan gave him a brilliant ride.

“He got to the front early but he’s a super horse.

“He was cruising on the dirt – most don’t handle it – and we thought we might have chosen the wrong race.

“But this horse brings together two continents.

“We’re so lucky to have him. I’m so delighted for the lads.”

Moore, whose mount was 9-4 fav, said: “He started well but I got squeezed and it was very messy crossing the main track.

“The horses were all over the place and there was no rhythm, I wasn’t able to do that.

“I was caught back further than ideal and I had to do something different, I went to one of the last resorts.

“He’s been an unbelievable horse from a special pedigree and we thought this was the perfect race for him.

“He’s a brave horse and it was the perfect race, Aidan had him in the most unbelievable shape.”

There was no joy for Frankie Dettori on King Of Steel or Jim Crowley on Mostahdaf.
