Aston Villa vs Chelsea: Tyrone Mings’ shocking error for Mason Mount goal
Mings #Mings
Tyrone Mings gifted Chelsea a golden opportunity to take the lead in Aston Villa’s Premier League clash with the Blues after an awful piece of defending.
Mason Mount was the beneficiary of Mings’ mistake – a stray header that looked initially looked simple enough to deal with.
But for whatever reason, despite being under no pressure at all, the centre-back accidentally mistimed his clearance and sent the ball travelling in the opposite direction back towards his own goal.
Mount latched onto the stray clearance and coolly slotted past Martinez.

The Englishman has come under fire in recent times after Steven Gerrard opted to remove him as captain of the club.
And it seems he just can’t catch a break right now, when after fighting his way back into contention for the Villa starting eleven, he’s made another high-profile error that’s cost the club dearly.
To concede an early goal is the last thing Villa boss Gerrard would have wanted.
Under his stewardship, the club have claimed just two wins from their opening nine matches this campaign and are now looking likely to lose their tenth game too.

Their poor form has left them languishing in 17th position in the table, level on points with their west midlands rivals Wolves, who occupy the nearest relegation spot.
It’s certainly no stretch to say that Villa could well find themselves in a relegation battle if they don’t buck their ideas up sharpish.
So, mistakes like the one Mings delivered today just won’t do from this point.
Aston Villa are back in action on Thursday when they’ll take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.
It’s a must-win for Gerrard if he wants to stop the growing number of Villa fans calling for his head increasing even further.
