Aston Villa and Stan Collymore sent Wilfried Zaha ‘twilight’ transfer message

Zaha #Zaha

Aston Villa fans have given a mixed reaction to Stan Collymore’s suggestion that Wilfried Zaha should join the Claret and Blues.

Writing in the Sunday People, the pundit and former Villa striker reacted to speculation the winger could be headed to the Middle East if he leaves Selhurst Park.

Collymore said: “Wilfried Zaha would be crazy to go to Saudi Arabia. We know money is important to players but he’ll have earned good coin already in South London. There’s still plenty that his talent can help him achieve in England with Newcastle or an Aston Villa. He should ignore the easy option and leave that to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who have already posted all their achievements.”

To be fair Zaha, who’s contract is up in the summer, has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea so it could be that he will stay in the Premier League. Whether it’s for Villa or somewhere else is not clear – and supporters are split by the notion.

Contributors to our Aston Villa Facebook page have had their say, one backing the move: “If he is free then it’s oke. 30 year old already. But he is tricky and fast and carry ball, just what we need. He is also taller than bailey and more physical.”

A second added: “I’d have him, has that cutting edge.” While a third Villa fan said: “Easily Palace’s best player. I would take him as he is free this summer..will score goals and assist more than Bailey is doing atm. If it could happen he would improve the squad..maybe even the first 11.”

However, there isn’t unanimity, another fan saying: “Wouldn’t touch him,” another going even further: “We don’t sign pensioners at Villa Park these days. Zaha had his big chance at Man U years ago and he showed he couldn’t hack it. Why, then, would Villa now want him in the twighlight of his career?”
