ORANJESTAD – Aruba is quickly climbing out of the economic trough caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. That is what the Central Bank in Oranjestad expects. In 2020, the economy shrank by more than 22 percent.
Based on economic developments and available data this year, the bank expects a growth of more than 15 percent. Even if things do not go as planned, the bank still expects growth of eight percent.
The main driver of the expected recovery is the tourism sector. Especially as travel from the United States is reviving.
