Arsenal vs. Liverpool score: Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard fire Gunners to massive Premier League win

Arsenal rebooted their Premier League title hopes in a big way on Sunday, beating Liverpool 3-1 at Emirates Stadium in a match full of defensive errors.

The Gunners dominated throughout and picked up an early lead courtesy of Bukayo Saka, who scored from close range in the 14th minute. Despite not taking any shots on goal in the first half, though, Liverpool were able to go into halftime level after a defensive miscommunication led to Gabriel scoring an own goal just before the break. Liverpool came out more energetic in the second half but it was Arsenal who scored twice before the final whistle, first through Gabriel Martinelli in the 67th minute and then Leandro Trossard in the 91st.

Ibrahima Konate also picked up two yellow cards and was sent off in the 88th minute, which means he will miss Liverpool’s clash with Burnley on Saturday.

Liverpool are still top of the Premier League table but their lead has been slashed to just two points after Arsenal’s win. The Gunners now rise to second place, within touching distance of top spot.

This was Liverpool’s first loss without Mohamed Salah since he joined the club.
