In August 2018, Willian named Jorginho as one of the best players in training for Chelsea.

Metro quoted Willian as saying in August 2018 when asked who has been the best player in training: “Everyone has been training well but I would say Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic have been very good. They both bring a lot of quality to the team.”

Then in March 2019, Willian defended Jorginho after Chelsea fans booed him after he came off against Wolverhampton Wanderers and when he was playing against Malmo in the Europa League in February, as reported by Sky Sports at the time.

Sky Sports quoted Willian as saying about Jorginho in March 2019: “I think this is unfair from (the fans), and of course, I don’t want to talk about this. When they do that I don’t feel good on the pitch.

“When players are not in a good moment and don’t play well, we need fans. Jorginho is very important for us, a very good player. We know his quality.”
