Arsenal 1-0 AC Milan LIVE! Odegaard free kick – friendly match stream, latest score and goal updates today

Odegaard #Odegaard

The Gunners will this afternoon look to make it two wins from two in the Gulf as they face off against Italian giants AC Milan in the Dubai Super Cup. The squad has been bolstered by a number of stars returning for World Cup duty, including Ben White, Matt Turner and Thomas Partey. Granit Xhaka also opted against a break to link back up with his Arsenal team-mates.

Lyon were last week brushed aside 3-0 as Gabriel Magalhaes, Eddie Nketiah and Fabio Vieira all scored in the first half in an impressive display. After facing Milan, Mikel Arteta’s side will fly back to London for a friendly at the Emirates against Juventus, before their focus shifts to the return to Premier League action on Boxing Day.

A free kick from Odegaard and Nelson via a huge deflection is the difference here. It’s largely been very straightforward for the Gunners.

49min: Not sure where four minutes came from, but there you go. That’s your lot for the first half.

    14:51 , Alex Young

    45min: Four minutes added on.

    GOAL! 14:46 , Alex Young

42min: Well, Milan have been the better side for the last 10 minutes or so, but it’s Arsenal who have extended their lead.

Vieira dances through a slack Milan defence before finding Nelson in space, whose shot takes a big deflection and spins over the keeper and in.

    14:42 , Alex Young

40min: Milan win a free kick around 30 yards out, it’s floated in but Gabriel has no trouble heading clear.

    14:40 , Alex Young

38min: And again. This time it’s Rebic over the top for Origi, which the striker tries to bring down, rather impressively, under pressure from two, but the ball bounces just out of reach for Hein to gather.

    14:39 , Alex Young

35min: Milan not quite clicking yet, though are seeing far more of the ball. Tonali looks up and spots Origi running down the flank, but his pass is a good 15 yards overhit.

    14:33 , Alex Young

31min: Milan come our refreshed and reenergised, and immediately launch an attack which sees Origi fly through the centre, into the area and down onto the deck under pressure from White, but the referee waves play on.

    14:30 , Alex Young

29min: Time for a water break in Dubai. It’s 22C over there.

    14:27 , Alex Young

25min: Nketiah looks to have won another free kick, again outside the area, but the referee waves away the protests.

    14:27 , Alex Young

22min: A free kick won really well by Nketiah for that opener, by the way. Really battled hard.

    GOAL! 14:22 , Alex Young

21min: A stunner from Odegaard gives Arsenal the lead!

The captain bends a fine finish beyond the wall and beyond the keeper.

    14:16 , Alex Young

15min: Another corner for Milan, this time Tonali sends the ball into the area, it’s headed clear but only to Kalulu who is able to test Hein in goal.

    14:15 , Alex Young

12min: Milan finally get their foot on the ball and win a corner. Tonali plays it short and works the ball to the edge of the area, finding Rebic for a smart turn and shot off target.

    14:10 , Alex Young

8min: Milan are chasing shadows. Partey and Lokonga keeping things ticking along nicely in the middle.

    14:07 , Alex Young

5min: Two more corners for Arsenal, who have flown out the traps here. This one is whipped in by Vieira which forces Tatarusanu into a flying save.

    14:05 , Alex Young

3min: Early chance for Arsenal as they win a corner, but Milan clear first time.

Arsenal on top in the early stages.

    1min: Here we go!

    13:48 , Alex Young

Kick off in just under 15 minutes. AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli, here, overseeing his players during their final warm-ups.

Tomori will be hoping for a good showing, having missed out on England’s World Cup squad and, frankly, been quite dreadful against Chelsea in the Champions League.

    Not long now.

This is Milan’s first of these mid-season friendlies, so it will be interesting to see how they get on. They face Liverpool, also in the Dubai Super Cup, on Friday.

    13:31 , Alex Young

So, another fairly strong team from the Gunners, who do include White and Partey from the off.

Gabriel, Vieira and Nketiah will be looking to again get on the scoresheet. The likes of Cedric, Elneny and Marquinhos are on the bench.

Familiar face 12:45 , Alex Young

The Arsenal squad were joined by a familiar face in Dubai yesterday as former defender Bacary Sagna showed his face.

Sagna spent seven years with the Gunners, winning the FA Cup in his final year, playing alongside Mikel Arteta for much of it.

Some early teams news out of Dubai suggests both Ben White and Thomas Partey will be involved in the game.

Granit Xhaka and Ben Turner are with the squad but will not feature.

Last time out 12:15 , Alex Young

Arsenal showed no signs of rustiness as they cruised to a 3-0 win over Lyon in the Dubai Super Cup last week.

Almost a month after the Gunners beat Wolves in their final Premier League match before club football went on a break for the World Cup, Mikel Arteta’s side looked as sharp as ever in their first of two matches in Dubai.

Goals from Gabriel, Eddie Nketiah and Fabio Vieira put the Gunners in complete control heading into the break, and that proved to be more than enough for victory. A penalty shootout took place after the match with an extra point on offer, and Karl Hein, with his four saves, was the only one to come out with real credit as the Gunners won 2-1 following a really poor set of spot-kicks.

Arsenal face AC Milan next week, before returning to London to play Juventus in a final friendly before the resumption of the Premier League.

Arsenal have the advantage of this being their second match, so they can be expected to be the sharper of the two sides.

The Gunners looked impressive against Lyon and if it’s another strong lineup named, then a similar result looks likely.

    A 3-1 win for Arsenal.

World Cup stars back for Arsenal 11:56 , Alex Young

Arsenal have been boosted by the return of a number of World Cup stars for today’s game.

Granit Xhaka has been joined by the likes of Ben White, Thomas Partey and Matt Turner with the squad ahead of the Gunners’ second mid-season friendly.

It remains to be seen if any of those who were in Qatar will feature, while the likes of England duo Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale and Brazil’s Gabriel Martinelli will be given more time off before linking back up with the club.

Injured pair Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe are out for the foreseeable, though the latter hopes to be back up to speed after injury come the turn of the year.

Oleksandr Zinchenko was ruled out of the win over Lyon with muscle tightness and will be assessed ahead of kick-off.
