Arsenal 0-0 Man City LIVE SCORE: Alvarez close to capitalising on Raya howler as City take control of crunch clash

Raya #Raya

Arsenal 0-0 Man City

36. Pep Guardiola must surely be considering making a substitution now because surely – SURELY – Kovacic only has one more foul in him before he is dismissed.

Arsenal 0-0 Man City

35. Mateo Kovacic, what are you doing?!

Booked just minutes ago for an awful challenge on Odegaard, the Croatian has just dived in on Rice as the Arsenal midfielder moved a simple pass out wide.

The Arsenal fans, players and manager react immediately, demanding a red card for the City midfield – but Michael Oliver waves his arms away and says no.

Kovacic is as lucky as he is daft.

Arsenal 0-0 Man City

33. And just like that, Haaland enters the action.

He brings a high ball down out of the sky, turns and lays into the path of Alvarez.

Moving on to the attack, the Argentine controls and thumps over from 30 yards.

Arsenal 0-0 Man City

32. Now Jesus has gone down, holding his stomach, but I’m not too sure why.

Meanwhile, has anyone seen Erling Haaland? The striker has only had three touches, the fewest of any player on the pitch.

Mind you, Scott McTominay only had five yesterday.

Arsenal 0-0 Man City

30. Maybe that terrible tackle was just what his contest needed.

After a passive opening, there’s not a bit of needle about it, and the home crowd are getting themselves involved.

Arsenal 0-0 Man City – Kovacic yellow card

28. Ouch! That’s a bad one from Mateo Kovacic, and completely unnecessary.

The former Chelsea man lunges in on Martin Odegaard from behind, and catches him above the heel with his studs.

As the Arsenal captain writhes around in pain, Michael Oliver issues the game’s third yellow card – but the punishment could yet be greater.

ON VAR duty, John Brooks is reviewing the incident and taking his time.

It looks worse on each replay, but is it enough to warrant an upgrade to a straight red card?

Eventually, the officials decide no, although if the on-field decision had been red, I don’t think it would have been overturned.
