The latest installment of the XFL has kicked off its roster construction for the 2023 season.

The league’s eight teams announced its two quarterbacks, which were pre-selected by each head coach ahead of the rest of the XFL draft this week, on Tuesday, and the Arlington Renegades will be led by Bob Stoops’ selections of Drew Plitt and Kyle Sloter.

Plitt, 24, played in college at Ball State. He was named second-team All-MAC in 2020, and was most recently a part of the Cincinnati Bengals organization, signed as an undrafted free agent, before being released ahead of the 2022 season.

“We are excited to add Drew Plitt to the Arlington Renegades,” said Stoops. “Drew had an impressive college career at Ball State and performed well in training camp this year with the Cincinnati Bengals. We look forward to seeing what he can do in the XFL.”

Sloter, 28, has almost hit double digits in his number of NFL stops since signing with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2017. In recent years, he most notably led the New Orleans Breakers to the USFL’s semifinal last season and was named to the All-USFL Team.

“Kyle Sloter is a great addition to our team,” said Stoops. “He has the size and athleticism that we feel can help him succeed in the XFL. Kyle’s experience with NFL teams and time spent playing spring football will serve him well in our league. We can’t wait to hit the field and get to work.”

For Cowboys fans looking for other reasons to follow the XFL this season, Ben Dinucci was selected by the Seattle Sea Dragons.

DiNucci was a seventh-round pick by Dallas in 2020 out of James Madison and appeared in three games (one start) with the Cowboys. After being unable to secure a backup role behind Dak Prescott, he was waived in August before the start of the regular season.
