The game had “T-R-A-P” written all over it in letters as big as the Hollywood sign.

Yet, Chip Kelly and UCLA fell right into it on Saturday night at the Rose Bowl, losing to Arizona, 34-28, in Pac-12 play.

The Wildcats came in 3-5 and were 20-point underdogs to the Bruins, who are scheduled to meet USC next Saturday in a massive rivalry game.

The intensity of that matchup on the national stage dimmed when Arizona knocked UCLA off its perch behind Jayden de Laura.

The Arizona quarterback threw three touchdown passes and went over the 300-yard mark for the fifth time this season.

The sophomore is averaging 340.1 passing yards with 18 touchdowns and a 64.7% completion rate in his last seven games.

UCLA got 181 yards and three touchdowns from running back Zach Charbonnet and still came up short.

Arizona had not defeated a Top 10 team since it downed No. 2 Oregon in 2014.

Arizona coach Jedd Fisch was the UCLA offensive coordinator in 2017 and interim coach for the final two games when Jim Mora was fired that season.

Yes, the same Jim Mora who has turned around UConn and has the Huskies bowl-eligible in his first year coaching them.
