Argos shoppers spot huge design flaw on pair of bargain £6 curtains

Argos has been mocked by customers for selling discounted curtains that resemble giant floor-to-ceiling cigarettes.

The store is currently holding a clearance on its ‘Home Printed Border Unlined Eyelet Curtains’, reducing the price tag from £15 to just £5.99.

With a four star overall review from happy customers online, the product description reads: “Looking to liven up a room with bright and colourful curtains? We can help you there.

“These unlined 2-tone Dublin curtains are 100% cotton and will give you lots of natural light and plenty of privacy.

“We love their eyelet design for its fast and fiddle-free fitting and should disaster strike you can pop them in the wash. Like your room a bit darker? These curtains are also available fully lined.”

As well as being available in a natural tone, they also come in a mustard and white colour – and shoppers quickly noticed the fabric resembled over-sized smokes.

With the folds in the curtains making it appear as though there are five cigarettes neatly lined up on either side, one person tweeted to say: “Is it just me, or do these curtains from Argos bear an alarming resemblance to JPS Superkings cigarettes?”

A second replied: “Sorry Argos, I’m trying to quit.”

Another commented: “They will certainly light up the room!”

A fourth said: “Imagine trying to give up smoking and staring at them all day.”

But it didn’t seem to bother some customers, who left glowing reviews for the curtains on the website, with one writing: “Great quality for the money I paid. Really brightened up my hallway.”

A second raved: “Was looking at these curtains for a while before buying, but when I saw them on offer it was meant to be. I wasn’t disappointed either. They look lovely and add just the right splash of colour.”
