AR-15 atrocity in Uvalde: Darcy cartoon
AR-15 #AR-15
CLEVELAND, Ohio — With a gun lobby in the U.S Capitol lavishing Republican Senators, there’s a ‘gun lobby’ in Buffalo and now Uvalde morgues, being filled with the latest innocent victims of mass shootings.
After the horrific mass shooting at the Sandy Hook elementary school that killed 26, little to no gun reform was done to prevent another massacre. So ten years later, it shouldn’t be a shock that the massacre of innocence was repeated at an Uvalde, Texas elementary school, but it still is.
This time, 19 children and 2 adults trying to shield them, were butchered by bullets fired from an AR-15 triggered by 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, who had purchased two AR-15′s and 375 rounds of ammunition after his birthday so he could commence a deathday for 21 people.
As at Sandy Hook, DNA is needed to identify the victims who will be waked in closed caskets, such is the damage done to human flesh from just one AR-15 bullet, let alone multiple shots.
The weapons Salvador Ramos was able to legally buy for his heinous act of inhumanity are more lethal than the combat rifles used in the Vietnam war.
This nation has too long been engaged in another war, against gun violence and the gun lobby, now with innocent children again put in the front lines of battle.
Ramos had first shot his grandmother in the side of her face. He then took off in her pickup crashing in a ditch in front of the elementary school. Then he entered the back door of the school after first being confronted by a school security officer and another officer who failed to stop him. Ramos barricaded himself in a 4th grade classroom and opened fire on all inside for 40 to 60 minutes before 4 border police guards were finally able to break in and shoot him, ending the massacre.
Needed is a review of why it took nearly an hour for police to enter the school after they first encountered Ramos before he even entered it.
So stagnant was the police response, onlookers were shouting for them to enter the school and starting to rally to enter themselves since the police didn’t immediately. Police had begun to break school windows for children in other parts of the school to escape. They had also taken time to strategize their entry plan. They knew he had barricaded himself in a room. Did they know that room was filled with small kids and two teachers?
Questions that need to be answered are how was a single 18-year-old with two assault rifles able to hold off dozens of trained law enforcement officers for nearly an hour while he bullet butchered 19 4th graders to the point they have to be identified using their parents DNA?
