App State students took to the street after the Mountaineers’ upset No. 6 Texas A&M, turning the campus into a huge block party.
An 18 1/2-point underdog team, App State did the unthinkable in College Station. Students back in Boone were all about it on Saturday.
Appalachian State won a week after scoring six touchdowns and 40 points in the fourth quarter in a 63-61 opening loss to North Carolina.

Along with the victory, the Mountaineers got a fat $1.5 million check to take back with them to Boone, North Carolina, for playing this game.

Appalachian State plays in the Sun Belt and has been in the FBS since 2014. The Mountaineers made history in their opener in 2007 when they shocked No. 5 Michigan 34-32 in Ann Arbor by blocking a field goal as time expired. It was the first time an FCS team had defeated a FBS team ranked in The AP Top 25 poll and remains one of the biggest upsets in college sports history.
Years removed from that huge win, Appalachian State showed Saturday that they remain a team that doesn’t back down from Power Five competition.
