Former Trump White House official Anthony Scaramucci was utterly beside himself as news broke Thursday that British Prime Minister Liz Truss was resigning.
No stranger to a short tenure, “The Mooch”, as he’s affectionately known, congratulated Truss for having a premiership that lasted longer than his 10 days in the White House. Or spoiler alert: longer than the milk in the fridge.
“1 Scaramucci = carton of milk 1 Truss = head of lettuce,” Scaramucci wrote on Twitter.
Truss announced Thursday that she was stepping down after just six weeks in office following a humiliating rebuke of her tax cut plan that threw British markets into chaos. Her resignation means that G7 nation will now have at least three prime ministers in one year.
The Daily Star went viral after it began streaming a head of lettuce next to a picture of Truss to see which one would last longer. The image quickly became a caricature of Truss’ tenure, the latest fiasco to befall Britain’s Conservative Party.
While Scaramucci lasted all of 10 days as then-President Donald Trump’s communications director, ushering White House chief of staff Reince Priebus to the door before Priebus’ successor, John Kelly, axed him. That means Truss lasted “4.1 Scaramuccis,” rounding up, of course.
“I admire her for being in the arena and for doing what is right by stepping down at this time,” Scaramucci said of Truss in a separate tweet.
Instead, Truss’ premiership will now be the shortest in the nation’s history. She may technically outlast the lettuce though as she has pledged to stay in office until the Conservative Party selects a new leader.
