Trump news: Anthony Scaramucci compares president to Mussolini | indy100
Anthony Scaramucci, has compared Donald Trump to the former fascist Italian prime minister Benito Mussolini for his mask removal stunt on the Truman Balcony of the White House.
Scaramucci who served a short period in the Trump administration in 2017 as the communications director but has since become a fierce critic of the president.
Scaramucci revealed that he knows of White House staff members and secret service agents about the disregard that Trump has shown for other people’s safety following his positive diagnosis and went as far to call him the ‘American Mussolini’ a reference to the balcony in Rome that the Italian used to address crowds from.
The morale inside the White House, at an all-time low, the secret service is super upset. You’ve got staff inside the White House that I know personally that are very sick and are very upset about it. You’ve got young children involved. The White House press secretary (Kayleigh McEnany) has a young child, she’s now got Covid as a result of listening to this nonsense from the president.
The thing that worries me the most is what about the people that are helping him? A demagogue can only be powerful if they have willing accomplices. What does it say for people like Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy who won’t come on your show? What are you doing?
You swore an oath to the constitution of the United States and to protect American citizens and you’ve got the American Mussolini standing on the balcony. We’ve never had a president stand on that balcony and do what he just did.
Scaramucci ended his tirade against Trump by valiantly predicted that he will lose the forthcoming election and speculated that the president’s behaviour is because he knows his time in the White House is coming to an end.
Joy Reid of MSNBC also compared Trump to Mussolini for proudly standing on the balcony as well as a ‘discount Bolsanaro’ and a member of the ‘old Russian czar family.’
Trump has tried to act unphased by his battle with coronavirus telling the American people to not let the pandemic ‘dominate your life’ and that he now feels better than he did 20 years ago. However, Dr Sean Conley, from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre, warned that the president is “not out of the woods yet” despite being released from the facility.
