Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards isn’t worried about debates as to whether or not Kevin Durant belongs among the top five NBA players of all time.
In Edwards’ opinion, Durant is already No. 1 on that list.
“My GOAT… this is going to sound crazy, but Kevin Durant,” Edwards told ESPN’s Malika Andrews.
“I’ve always just been a fan, watching him play as a kid. He’s the first seven-footer I’ve seen putting the ball on the floor… I’ve always been a big fan.”
Edwards was six years old when Durant, the No. 2 pick of the 2007 draft, made his NBA debut with the Seattle SuperSonics.
Almost two decades later Edwards, the top pick in 2020, played in the NBA All-Star Game alongside Durant.
Before the festivities in Indianapolis, Edwards told Chris Haynes of TNT and Bleacher Report that he was excited to play with Durant.
“Durant is my favorite player of all time, of course,” Edwards told Haynes. “Definitely just being around him is super cool.”
Edwards is averaging 26.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game in his fourth campaign with the Timberwolves, while Durant is putting up 28.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists for the Phoenix Suns in his 16th NBA season.
